Changes in this version:

ANPR lists have been added. Users can create and edit lists, and ANPR events can be created which match lists. The user can create multiple lists and they can have any name, e.g. White, Black, Allowed, Disallowed, Student, Teacher, Staff, etc.
By default the ANPR plate text, owner name and list name are displayed on video and used to create searchable text events. The displayed text can be configured by the user to display whatever they want, e.g. "John Smith entered car park".
Results from the Search tab can be printed.

An alarm is displayed to users with details of automatically blocked sites
Users can manually un-block sites
Users can change settings for how sites are blocked
All information about blocked alarms is written to the alarms log
ANPR data has been added to alarms sent by TCP/IP socket
Alarms can be send with TCP/IP socket to Alarm Centers
A separate log file is created for program settings events
Details of alarms sent by TCP/IP socket are written to immix_log
Support added for ONVIF devices with multiple video sources

Standard levels

A number of standard schemes have evolved. These are called levels. Originally, there were five RAID levels, but many variations have evolved—notably several nested levels and many non-standard levels (mostly proprietary). RAID levels and their associated data formats are standardized by the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) in the Common RAID Disk Drive Format (DDF) standard:[7][8]

RAID 0

RAID 0 (block-level striping without parity or mirroring) has no (or zero) redundancy. It provides improved performance and additional storage but no fault tolerance. Any drive failure destroys the array, and the likelihood of failure increases with more drives in the array.[5]

RAID 1

In RAID 1 (mirroring without parity or striping), data is written identically to two drives, thereby producing a "mirrored set"; the read request is serviced by either of the two drives containing the requested data, whichever one involves least seek time plus rotational latency. Conversely, a write request updates the stripes of both drives. The write performance depends on the slower of the two writes (i.e. the one that involves larger seek time and rotational latency). At least two drives are required to constitute such an array. While more constituent drives may be employed, many implementations deal with a maximum of only two. The array continues to operate as long as at least one drive is functioning.[5]

RAID 2

In RAID 2 (bit-level striping with dedicated Hamming-code parity), all disk spindle rotation is synchronized, and data is striped such that each sequential bit is on a different drive. Hamming-code parity is calculated across corresponding bits and stored on at least one parity drive.[5] This theoretical RAID level is not used in practice.[citation needed]

RAID 3

In RAID 3 (byte-level striping with dedicated parity), all disk spindle rotation is synchronized, and data is striped so each sequential byte is on a different drive. Parity is calculated across corresponding bytes and stored on a dedicated parity drive.[5] Although implementations exist,[9] RAID 3 is not commonly used in practice.

RAID 4

RAID 4 (block-level striping with dedicated parity) is equivalent to RAID 5 except that all parity data are stored on a single drive. In this arrangement files may be distributed among multiple drives. Each drive operates independently, allowing I/O requests to be performed in parallel.[citation needed]

RAID 4 was previously used primarily by NetApp, but has now been largely replaced by an implementation of RAID 6 (RAID-DP).[10]

RAID 5

RAID 5 (block-level striping with distributed parity) distributes parity along with the data and requires that all drives but one be present to operate. The array is not destroyed by a single drive failure. On drive failure, any subsequent reads can be calculated from the distributed parity such that the drive failure is masked from the end user. RAID 5 requires at least three disks.[5]

RAID 6

RAID 6 (block-level striping with double distributed parity) provides fault tolerance up to two failed drives. This makes larger RAID groups more practical, especially for high-availability systems. This becomes increasingly important as large-capacity drives lengthen the time needed to recover from the failure of a single drive. Like RAID 5, a single drive failure results in reduced performance of the entire array until the failed drive has been replaced and the associated data rebuilt.[5]

RAID 10

In RAID 10, often referred to as RAID 1+0 (mirroring and striping), data is written in stripes across primary disks that have been mirrored to the secondary disks.

Recommended Camera Position

A good ANPR engine can read plates from images captured in various conditions. However, to achieve over 95% recognition rate with short recognition times, the position of the camera have to be calculated accurately. The best position is if the angle between the camera axis and the direction of the vehicle movement is minimal (see below).

The distance between the camera and plate is also important. If the camera is too far from the plate, the characters may not be large enough for recognizing them. In this case, zoom-in until you reach the proper size. If the distance is too short it may happen that, a part of the plate is over the camera’s field of view (when the vehicle is near to the side of the lane or the plate is not at the middle of the vehicle).

Generally, sharp and characters easily readable to the human eye are appropriate for ANPR/LPR purposes. The most important factor is the size of the characters on the image. For Latin characters it is recommended to have at least 16 pixel character height, for Arabic or other special characters it is recommended to have 20 pixel height (since they are more calligraphic than Latin characters). Too large characters are also not suitable for ANPR, therefore try to avoid settings where the character size is greater than 50 pixels in height.

A line width of a character on the image should be at least 2 pixels.

What does WDR or Wide Dynamic Range in the surveillance systems?

Every time a part of the image is incredibly dark and another part of the image is very bright alternative can not see all the specific details of these areas. Dynamic range is the range between the highest and lowest amounts possible of changing such as the amount of light. Cameras with WDR (wide dynamic range) has a unique software that allows to stabilize the image and recover as much detail overexposed and underexposed areas. So these rooms are perfect for recording in certain locations such as the entrances of shops where the contrast between sunlight outside and inside the dark is too high and extremely difficult to be registered.

Cameras may have overexposed and underexposed image problems simply can not properly record the image middle between very bright and very dark. Cameras with WDR technology possesses sophisticated sensors that can generate a wider range of lighting that allow them pretentious record in high contrast light. In addition to the WDR cameras include a number of alternative methods for balancing light and software to generate images much better. Tone Mapping is a function of the camera surveillance software that generates a map of dark areas and bright areas and so the camera knows what part of the image to illuminate. Some cameras are more streams of identical images at different exposure levels and then to have overlapping elements as well balanced in the image, generating a good image per / total. This process requires a very rapid and sensitive sensor light that you can find only on professional sophisticated camera.

Surveillance Cameras WDR (wide dynamic range) are perfect for the more complicated lighting situations:

Showrooms, lobbies and entrances with lots of windows in which the contrast between indoor lighting and natural light creates dark areas and bright areas.
Helps indoor monitoring in those situations where light floods the area when the door opens and thus causes the person entering to be recognizable.
Working at night when surveillance cameras do not use infrared. They can overexpose some points while other areas are dark.
